The thing that happened 14 years ago today was my hearing a very special explanation of Parsha Beha'aloscha for a very special occassion. The Rabbi of the shul in Los Angeles California was giving a very deep explanation as to the meaning of the inverted or what he called falling nuns.
According to Chassidish tradition the speech given by the Rabbi about the Parsha which was about to be read from the Torah scroll was given before the reading of the Torah as opposed to after the Torah reading.
I had been searching the audience to see if my grandfather had made it to the shul, however I felt that I should not take my concentraction away from the Rabbi because his explanation seemed to be inspired, and I wanted to catch all of its nuances.
The time of the year was Tammuz 8 5754. It had just been my secular birthday the day before, I was going to be called to the Torah for the first time!
